Sewage Pumps
While effluent pumps are great for moving grey water, they are not able to pass the solids that can be present in sewage-handing applications. For these cases, a sewage pump must be used. JMI has stocked both types of pumps since 1983 and is able to meet almost any duty point on a pump curve with today’s stock.
Designed specifically for sanitary waste streams such as bathrooms, toilets, and large loading docks, many sewage pumps can pass up to 2″ solids. Sewage pumps have two types of impellers: deep vane and vortex. While there are plenty of fine deep vane impeller pumps on the shelf, vortex impellers are recommended whenever possible because they allow the sewage to pass through the pump– volute to discharge– without ever touching the impeller. Like effluent basins, sewage basins must be gas tight and vented according to code. For high-demand sump and effluent jobs, sewage pumps can be installed.
